Q.  When and where are games and practices?

A.  We play all our games on Sundays in September and October at West Lincoln Way Park.  All our practices are at West Lincoln Way Park.  Tackle practices are on every Tuesday and Thursday fom 6:30 to 8:00 PM starting in mid to late August thru October. Most flag teams will practice on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, but a few may practice on Tuesdays or Thursdays.  Only one practice a week for flag division.

 

Q.  How do we find out about weather related delays or cancelations for games or practices?

A.  We will post on our website if games or practices will be delayed or canceled due to inclement weather.  We will also send out an email alerting our league of the situation.  Team coaches may also contact their players to let them know as well.  If games are canceled, the make up date will be the Sunday after the last regular season game.  

 

Q.  When does the League registration open?

A.  We open up registrations for the fall season in early June and usually close it the end of July.  We must draft teams, pay for insurance and order jerseys by the beginning of August, so no late registrations are accepted, unless approved by the League Board.

 

Q.  Are there weight limits for positions?

Q.  What are the divisions and what grades are each division?

A.  We have two tackle divisions and two flag divisions.  College tackle division which consists of 4th and 5th graders.  Pro tackle division which consists of 6th and 7th graders.  A Kingergarten & 1st grade flag divsion and a 2nd & 3rd grade divsion.

 

Q.  Is the tackle divsion an 8-man or 11-man league?

A.  Both tackle divisions play 11-man.

 

Q.  What equipment is provided and what equipment will I need to purchase for the tackle division?

A.  With your paid registration the league will provide each player the following:

            1.  League participation

            2.  Team jersey

            3.  Coaching the fundamentals of football.

            4.  FUN

      Each player will need to provide the following:

            1.  Helmet - Aproximate cost= $150-$250

            2.  Shoulder pads - Approximate cost= $75-$150

            3.  Football pants/pads - Approximate cost= $30-$40

            4.  Football shoes

            5.  Mouth guard

            6.  Gloves (optional)

            7.  Helmet visor (optional)

            8.  T-shirt to be worn under shoulder pads

            9.  Socks

            

       Note:  Local retailer(s) will be at the skill assessments for both leagues to fit players for jerseys, pads,  

                   helmet's etc.  Parents can go over with supplier at that time on which brand and sizes to go with.

 

Q.  How many games does each team play?

A.  Each team will typically play 5-6 games in a season.

 

Q.  How many players are on a team?

A.  The tackle teams will typically consist of 13-17 players, a  head coach and an assistant coach.  The flag teams will typically consist of 8 to 12 players and a head coach.

 

Q.  How can my business become a sponsor, or my grandson is in the league and I would like to donate to the league,

      to ensure its survival for future Kearney area youth.

A.  Business sponsors will get advertising on our website (banner ad on top or bottom of page banner) as well as other
